The Kite Shop
The Kite Shop was a week long art activity for families visiting the Great Court at the British Museum. It ran in conjunction with the museum’s exhibition “Afghanistan, Crossroads of an Ancient World.”
Inspired by images of Kite Shops in Kabul, Sophie worked with artist Emily Tracy to recreate a ‘kite shop’ where visitors could come and make their own afghan fighter kites using brightly coloured handmade paper, willow and metallic tape.
nspiration to for the patterns to decorate the kites came from the geometric and organic designs of Afghan textiles. |
